Worker.NG is a Nigerian platform built to make it easier to find the people who can get things done.
Finding a good artisan should not depend entirely on who happens to have a phone number saved in someone else’s contact list. Across Nigeria, skilled people are working every day as electricians, plumbers, painters, mechanics, builders, installers, technicians, tailors, cleaners and in many other trades. The challenge is often not finding someone who has the skill. It is finding the right person, in the right place, when the work is needed.
That is the problem Worker.NG is here to help solve.
What Worker.NG does
Worker.NG is an online directory and discovery platform for artisans and service professionals in Nigeria. People can browse profiles, search by skill and location, and use nearby discovery to find artisans who may be working close to them.
For artisans, Worker.NG provides a place to present their skills and make their services easier for potential customers to discover.
For customers, it provides a more organised starting point when they need someone to do a job.
Built for the way Nigeria works
Work does not always happen inside the boundaries of a permanent address. An artisan may live in one local government area and spend a few weeks working on a project somewhere else. That is why Worker.NG has built location discovery around more than a permanent profile address.
Our Worker.NG Passport allows eligible artisans to share a current working location for nearby discovery without having to change the State or LGA associated with their main profile. A temporary location can expire, so it is not treated as a permanent change to the artisan’s profile.
When someone uses nearby discovery, Worker.NG uses location information to calculate which published profiles are close to the search location. Exact artisan coordinates are not displayed publicly as part of that search.
A directory is only useful when people can trust it
We take that responsibility seriously.
Worker.NG provides tools for artisans to create and manage profiles, and for eligible users to claim profiles that belong to them. We also provide ratings and other information that can help people make an initial assessment.
But a directory should never pretend to know more than it actually knows. A profile, rating or claim is not a substitute for doing your own checks before hiring someone. Users should discuss the job, agree on scope and price, confirm relevant experience or qualifications where they matter, and make sensible decisions before work begins.
Worker.NG is a connection point, not a middleman
Worker.NG helps people discover and connect with artisans. We do not become a party to the agreement between an artisan and a customer simply because the connection happened through our platform.
Unless we clearly say otherwise for a particular service, Worker.NG does not employ the artisans listed in the directory, supervise their work, set their prices, guarantee their workmanship, collect payment on their behalf, or act as their agent.
More than a list of names
Our goal is to build a useful platform around the real needs of both sides of the connection. That means making discovery easier, improving the quality and usefulness of directory information, giving artisans better ways to present what they do, and building tools that make local search more practical.
We will keep improving the platform as we learn what people actually need.
Our approach
- Useful over complicated. People should be able to find what they need without fighting the website.
- Clear over exaggerated. We would rather explain what a feature does than make promises it cannot keep.
- Respect for artisans. Skilled work deserves to be discoverable and presented properly.
- Respect for users. People deserve useful information and enough context to make their own decisions.
- Responsible use of technology. Location, accounts and other personal information should be handled with care.
